Catch Me If You Can Lyrics, and What the Song Means

Catch Me If You Can has been out in the world for five days now, and I want you to have the words. All of them, and what they mean to me.

So here they are. Underneath, a few notes on where they came from.

Catch Me If You Can

Talk the talk talk the talk do you do any walking, it’s shocking

Want the bang want the boom but you can’t take the heat

Phone it in, phone it in do you think you could shake me, oh baby

You can try but I might just show you my teeth

Take you down in the very first round

Cause honestly, I wanna play with someone worthy of me

The taste of victory, give it to me

Step it up

You’re just

A diamond in the rough

And luck Is na na na na never enough

The sweat

The blood

You gotta hold that fire in your hand

Tonight catch me if you can

Nanananananana

Catch me if you can

Nanananananana

Catch me if you can

Taking off taking off can’t you go any faster

Say yes sir

Gimmie bang gimmie boom wanna see what you got yeah

Buckle up buckle up cause we just getting started, darling

And I’m bringing the thunder ready or not

Take you down in the very first round

Step it up

You’re just

A diamond in the rough

And luck Is nanana never enough

The sweat

The blood

You gotta hold that fire in your hand

Tonight catch me if you can

Nanananananana

Catch me if you can

Nanananananana

Catch me if you can

When I told you the story behind this song, I said it was about knowing your worth while enjoying the moment. The title is where that begins. You only say catch me if you can when you are already moving, a little ahead, and having fun with it. This song is playful. It flirts. It is about attraction, and about that electric feeling when someone is trying to keep up with you. Underneath the fun, it is about confidence. On release day I wrote that I'm done asking permission to be me, and that feeling runs through every line. I wrote Catch Me If You Can with Bonnie McKee, Damon Sharpe and J Hart, and Damon produced it. Damon has been part of my music since I first started writing in English, so walking into a room with him always feels a little like coming home. A song about a chase needed a real one. We filmed the video at a go-kart track in Los Angeles, and we did not stop until 2:30 in the morning. Yes, that really is me behind the wheel.

Éli Sokhn directed it, Richy Jackson choreographed it, and Nadezda Vlasova styled it. Alexis Mendez was on camera, and Jenna Howell did hair and makeup. I wrote about that whole week in A Week in Los Angeles, if you want the story from the beginning. Catch Me If You Can follows Perfume and Best Of All Time. If you have been with me through those two, you will hear the same pulse running through this one. All three were made to be danced to.

If you want the whole story, play them in order: Perfume, then Best Of All Time, then Catch Me If You Can. I wrote about the words to Best Of All Time here too, back in August.

Who wrote Catch Me If You Can? Bonnie McKee, Damon Sharpe and J Hart wrote it, and Damon Sharpe produced it.

When did it come out? Friday, October 23, 2026, together with the official music video.

What is the song about? Confidence, independence and the thrill of the chase. In my words, it is about knowing your worth while enjoying the moment.

Where was the music video filmed? At a go-kart track in Los Angeles. Éli Sokhn directed it.

Is Catch Me If You Can a love song? It is about attraction and the fun of being chased, and it is just as much about confidence. I will let you decide who it is about.

What should I listen to next? Perfume and Best Of All Time. They came before this one, and they belong together.

Where can I listen? Glad you asked, click below.

Own your light.

xoxo SHAB
